WELCOME to the Virginia Village Newsletter from your Board of Directors.
Violation letters - Letters will be sent out shortly about general maintenance and fence safety issues.
These inspections are necessary to keep our neighborhood beautiful and safe and it may be something you have simply overlooked or already taken care of.
If you need assistance you can speak with your court captain, one of the committee members or the board as we may be able to help or refer you to someone.
We have heard from some wonderful neighbors who have volunteered to help where they can. Thank you to those neighbors and we also have a young man in the village who mows lawns for a very reasonable fee.
Fences - We have had 2 recent instances where dogs have broken through old and rotting fences and one instance children have been on the other side.
Also, almost weekly dogs are getting out of their yards and wandering the neighborhood. Thankfully our friendly neighbors, board and committee members have been able to return most of them home before they got to the main road.
Please make sure your fence is secure, especially if you have a dog.
Filling Pools - if you have a pool over 30 inches in height, a $50 fill fee is required. You can either send as a separate check to Select Group or pay online via CITPAY and send a screenshot to the Board. Please make sure you add a note letting them know it's a water fill fee.
Parking - Per current Bylaws, each home has 2 parking spots. Unfortunately, we are hearing complaints that people are not able to park in front of their homes due to neighbors taking 3 to 4 spots. Please be courteous and use “extra” unused spots elsewhere for additional vehicles, otherwise we will be looking into Numbering Spaces.
Reminder - Make sure you have your parking passes and have a payment plan with the Select Group if you are behind on your fees. Thank you.
CURRENT PROJECT & UPDATES:
If you have questions about our vendors and contractors, please contact the Board of Directors or the Select Group. The workers are there to do a job under the instruction of the Select Group and the Association, please let them do their work without interruption or interference.
Sewer Pump House - Work has been completed. However during the project we discovered that our output is much much more than should be for our neighborhood, so we are now looking for estimates to not only check our water mains but also our sewer lines.
Water Issues - Please be mindful of your water usage. As it gets warmer our costs nearly double, between sprinklers, water toys etc. Our water bill is shared amongst us all, a single resident pays the same as a family of 5, which is why we are inquiring about the possibility of meters.
Also, we are still waiting for estimates for non-invasive leak detection of our main lines, removal of remaining Hose Bibs as well as keeping an eye out for issues.
If there is a broken sewer or water pipe on your property, it is your responsibility to get it fixed. Sometimes this can be an expensive fix so you might like to consider insurance to cover the cost of sewer and water line repair, and in-house water line repair. Dominion Power provides insurance through HomeServe. You can check out what they offer in terms of insurance, by visiting https://www.homeserve.com/sc/email/dominion-va-ssl. We do not endorse or favor any vendor.
Trash Collection - For an additional fee you can get an extra trash can or special pickup by contacting our Select Group Managers listed below.
Upcoming Projects
Trees - We have obtained estimates for the removal of trees in the common areas between the courts and will proceed as money allows.
General Maintenance - We are preparing to paint the mailboxes and looking at ways to paint the front sign, although we understand this has been tried before.
Hospitality Committee
Events: Thank you to all who attended April events, we had about 20 children participate in our Hospitality Committee’s Easter Egg Hunt, and we had a good turnout for our Community Yard Sale.
While we still have many projects and improvements that we need to save money for, we will have to rely on fundraisers and volunteers to build our playground and dog park. Our Hospitality Committee is open to suggestions for fundraisers and events. Ideas can be emailed to vvcommunityvb@gmail.com. We have volunteers to help build the dog park and we are in the process of collecting donations of chain link fences to create the park.
Virginia Village Community Website - Our community website is VirginiaVillageVB.com. The aim of the website is to keep our owners and residents informed as well as contain links to pertinent information, outside resources, updates, and other information. We are still adding content to the site, so keep checking back.
